Valentine Quilt on the Longarm

I've finally put my daughter's Valentine quilt on the Longarm. I'm going to free motion quilt this one.

DAD GETS IN THE ACT
I have to thank my DH for helping me set up my long arm in the house and telling me it looks great in the middle of our front room. (I'm beginning to agree with him :) ) It's much more fun having it at home where I can go lay down when I'm exhausted :).

Plying Fun

This is my new Wollee Winder. It is my new Birthday giftie. It was so much fun plying on this that I got crazy and played around with plying. I way overspun this fiber, but I started to back-ply along one single and got this really fun boucle yarn kind of thing happening. I know it's not a new invention, but it's lots of fun!

Kool Aid Dying...

We got so caught up in the process
we forgot to take pictures of each step. It was a blast however.

before.....

after.....

We had some Paas easter egg tablets and a couple of packets of Kool Aid. We pretty much followed Amanda's Kool Aid Dyeing techniques.

A Bonnie Tam for A Braw Man

Tam Finished

One of my most favorite and simple tam photos from Elizabeth Zimmermann's Knitting Without Tears.

Cormo tam in progress

This is the tam in progress. I'm making what EZ calls a monster tam. It took the one skein to get this far. There is a hem already sewn down at the bottom edge so now all I have to do is ad a few more inches at 135 sts then start to decrease.
I have spun up another bobbin full...it's ready for the niddy noddy now. I started out with 1/2 lb of roving and I've sent for the rest of it which will equal a whole pound of roving. I'm curious how many Thumbelina bobbinfuls I'll get in total? I love this wool!

Cormo Hanks

This is the more recent hank. There is more consistency in the yarn. Woohoo. It's going to be just lovely worked up into a tam.

This is my first hank of cormo. I worked it up on my Thumbelina castle wheel. Very homespuny.

Cormo Wool

This is the 1/2# of cormo wool roving that I won in the raffle at the Headlsburg Day on the Farm this summer. Thanks to Sue from the Cormo Sheep & Wool Farm. The wool is very soft and lofty. I'll certainly be purchasing more.

Here is the fiber spun up on my Thumbelina caslte wheel bobbin. It's almost full. Doesn't it look scrumptious? I'm going to use this to make a nice warm hat for my dear hubby's sweet little head

Fiber Fun

I decided that my MozBlog has way too many subjects in it. So I'm starting this alternate blog to put all my fiber fun facts up on.
